Rev. Scott Carnes

I am a pastor at First United Methodist Church of Normal, IL.  I feel called to a ministry of teaching and preaching and find great fulfillment in acting out my faith through my ministry as pastor.

One of the most surprising things that I have yet learned, was how to be loved.  I lived so many years as a bachelor and with just a few friends (I have always had a hard time letting people get too close), I never imagined finding a relationship that would fuel my spirit the way my marriage has.  My wife, Carrie, is one of the strongest people that I know.  You'd better believe that she has a fierce spirit, when needed.  Yet, she is deeply caring and shows an abiding love for the people around her.  I don't know how it came to be, but Carrie came into my life just as I had given up on love.  Carrie has surprised me, challenged me,  and loved me these years we've been together and, so far, our love is only growing.

I hope that you'll check in on our shared blog to see how we are doing in love, marriage and ministry.

One of my great passions (and my undergraduate training) is in communications.  This blog is an endeavor to combine my passions for communications and ministry and be a forum that helps the church re-imagine it's presence, witness, and communication techniques.
